    1. Bob’s Notebook; Here are some notes that I’ve taken while at the Lyra Symposium in Rancho Mirage, CA.

Here are some quick notes that I took this morning at the Lyra Symposium.  I hope you enjoy them.

OEMs did not hit their 2011 sales numbers, how will this affect 2012?

Multiple cloud and mobile printing development and announcements are coming

A3 features in an A4 machine.

More alliances and partnerships coming in 2012

2012 will deliver new products and services because of 2011 alliances and partnerships

MPS moving to IT network management.

HP pushing ePrint, (20 million printers are ePrint enabled)

OEMs continue vertical solution development for high printing markets

Printer hardware trending toward simpler easy to use MFPs

Use of cell phones and hand held devices to print

Xerox 2011 performance strong in comparison to others

Cloud and mobility will increase some forms of digital printing

Watch Apple AirPrint, (users demanded print, so Apple provided it)

HP working with Android operating system for mobile printing.

Transition to color in the office is slowing down

Color remains a growth opportunity but MPS conversions are driving hardware revenue down due to equipment consolidating

      MPS helps A4 sales numbers

Hardware revenue will be flat, make the money with supplies.

      Focus on emerging markets.

SOHO continues to fuel inkjet growth.

The mobile workforce is growing – how will that affect printing?

About 25% of us have printed from our mobile devices

Mobile printing needs to be simple; it can not require training of the user.

Where are the mobile print users?

The reason people do not print from their mobile device is because it is not simple
