    1. Delivering Output Reliably in Mission Critical Environments Barr EOM

Barr EOM has been successfully implemented at hundreds of enterprises, in office, back office, centralized production, and distributed print environments.  While Barr Systems has invested significantly to create and deliver great technology that is easy to implement, use, manage, and maintain, our technology has no value if it does not perform reliably and well in real world environments.

Most of our customers use Barr EOM to address three broad output areas in the enterprise: electronic document delivery, office print, and production print (centralized and distributed).  The scope of how Barr EOM is deployed and configured varies widely based on each company’s unique requirements.  Enterprises use Barr’s single platform solution, Barr EOM, every day to accomplish various mission-critical operations, including

      • Retrieving documents from mainframes, UNIX hosts, and Windows-based document composition systems
      • Providing spooling, scheduling, queue management, viewing, archiving, and reprint capabilities for midrange and high-end production printers to operators in multiple locations
      • Converting documents between various page description languages such as PCL, PS, PDF, Text, AFP, Metacode, LCDS, etc.
      • Performing document modifications, such as bursting, concatenating, rotating, inserting bar codes, removing content, searching and replacing content, etc.
      • Indexing documents based on headers or document contents
      • Dynamically routing documents to destinations based on headers or document contents
      • Delivering electronic versions of documents via email or web instead of, or in addition to printing
      • Ensuring efficient utilization of printing hardware by allowing documents to be routed to any printer while preserving and maintaining print preferences
      • Routing documents to the location that can offer the most cost-effective result, such as forcing large documents to be printed centrally and distributing documents for end users to networked printers
      • Providing manual and automatic failover capabilities, as well as continuous device monitoring
      • Securing access to documents and document workflows
