Managed Print Services Connect (Sep 6 2012) Workflow
-
Barr EOM is a comprehensive output management product that gives organizations total control over what, when, and how they produce and deliver documents, regardless of platform. From the enterprise’s perspective, “command and control” is administered simply and effectively without impacting productivity, while users benefit from seamlessly integrated processes and failover logic to ensure that the output they desire is produced when and where they want it.
Barr EOM provides comprehensive features and functionality, including
- Tracking and reporting for printed documents… who, what, and where
- Managing and enforcing enterprise printing rules to reduce costs
- Allocating costs to billing accounts
- Employing release stations to ensure physical security of documents
- Enabling real “pull printing” – users can pick up print jobs at any MFP, even across brands and models
- Employing alerts and automatic failover logic to keep users printing even when printers go down
- Capturing and managing print jobs from mainframes, midrange systems, and mobile devices
- Transforming documents for electronic delivery via web and email
However, Barr EOM provides additional layers of functionality that deliver tangible benefits to the enterprise –
Automatically organize the enterprise’s printing infrastructure
- Auto-discovery of all print devices
- Organize printers based on geography or any other desired criteria
- Monitor devices for failures and general status
- Enable automated and manual failover to direct print to working printers when failures occur
Control print and other device functions
- Authenticate users at the device via PIN, network login or use of identification cards (swipe, proximity, etc)
- Limit user access to device features based on security settings
- Track all user activity at the device
In my next article, I’ll continue to present some ideas regarding additional functionality that Barr Systems customers identify as “must have” features of Barr EOM.
