    Managed Print Services Connect (May 20 2010)

    1. Bob's Notebook - 2010 Shows and Conferences

      As the publisher of  MPSConnect I attended many shows and conferences.  I thought I would share some of the notes I took at the On Demand and N. A. MPS Conference this year.

      o        An MPS solution can cut the end user’s print cost by up to 30%.

      o        MPSA the Managed Print Services Association came up with this definition for MPS:

      o        Managed print services is the active management and optimization of document output devices and related business processes.

      o        $750 per employee per year - A company’s print expense, inclusive of hardware, paper and consumables.

      o        A good MPS plan can result in a $250 per employee per year cost reduction.

      o        MPS is a $30 – $40,000,000,000 (billion) market.

      o        56% of corporate MPS decision makers are in the IT department.

      o        The greatest MPS growth is forecast to be in the SMB market.

      o        In 4 years 60% – 70% of MPS business will be generated from outside the US.

      o        Many regional dealers will go out of business if they don’t offer a good MPS program:

      o        It takes about 3 years for a dealer to develop their MPS program;

      o        Only 5 – 10% of US dealers are successful in the MPS space.

      o        Some of the best MPS vertical channels are:

      o        Education;

      o        Legal;

      o        Healthcare.

      o        GREEN initiative notes:

      o                 It takes 10 times more energy to produce a paper page than it does to print on it.

      o                 It takes 13 oz. of water to manufacture 1 page of paper.
